I’ve been staring at this Robert Smith half-finished painting for days now and I’m just not inspired to carry on with it…

there is nothing I can do in completing this painting that will offer any evidence of my style improving or changing…it will just be a replica of the original photo and I need to get away from that.

So I’m going to take a new direction I think, no idea where yet…

20/06/16…so it came to me today what to do with this one. After painting Rumer, an artist with not only a gorgeous voice but also a beautiful, caring nature, I’ve decide that any “icons” I paint now will have to be inspiring not just because of their talent. And as I’ve been reading Moby’s autobiography, “Porcelain”, his face seemed to leap out at me before. Again though,it will be difficult to not to make this one too photographic but I will try…I’ve also thought of a great idea to really use some creativity at last! Excited!…

21/06/16: turned the canvas on its side and added another canvas…

…finished in pretty much a day, probably 6hrs30 overall. I was not not satisfied just painting a simple portrait of Moby, it needed more. With the barbaric Yulin dog meat festival approaching, I was compelled to include it in some way…
