This piece was started as part of the “Spring 2016 competition giveaway” at the end of February (which was won after the first picture clue was uploaded!)
The title I’ve given it refers to the obvious passion between the title character “Donnie Darko” and Gretchen, but also the fact that (SPOILER ALERT!) the climax of the film sees Donnie choosing to go back in time and allow himself to be killed by a falling jet plane engine, in order to change history and allow Gretchen to live. How romantic!
