WELCOME!

Welcome to the official website of Stephen Mahoney, a self-taught portrait artist from Liverpool, painting since April 2013.

Stephen works mainly in acrylics on canvas, and labels his style as 'Correctionism':

"It all starts off as a series of messy, inaccurate brush-strokes. Then I gradually build it into something recognisable over a period of time, correcting any errors or parts that seem weak or ugly, on the way to producing a great portrait."

Existing Works & Collections

Browse Stephen's extensive portfolio of original paintings, dating back to April 2013, when his artistic journey began. This particular portfolio mainly focuses on portraiture of iconic figures from the world of entertainment. Previously being very attached to his original works, the vast majority of these non-commissioned paintings are now available to purchase

Exhibition Opportunities

Stephen has never really sought the limelight and has rarely taken part in exhibitions over the years. However, he is now open to exploring opportunities and showcasing his work in galleries & exhibitions across Liverpool and beyond. If you represent a venue or curate art events, he would be delighted to discuss collaboration.

"I will put a quote from one of my many satisfied customers here, once I get round to it."

How long does a painting take?

Well, every painting project is different but as a general guide...

A detailed portrait of one person painted over a basic background, in black & white acrylics on a 16x12" stretched canvas, can take anywhere between 10-16 hours spread over 2-3 weeks

How much do your paintings cost?

Again, every painting project is different - some smaller sized canvases may actually cost more than larger ones if they feature lots of characters and intense detail. The time it takes to complete plays an important part in the final fee, which will be quoted (and adhered to) before a brush hits the canvas
